Best Place To Stay in Progreso

Casa Sol Mar is the perfect place to stay
while you experience real Mexico and enjoy its history, people, and
culture. The accommodations and location were superb - very clean and
secure, with a nice pool, comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchens, and
modern bathrooms. All this and only steps from the Malecon where you'll
find excellent restaurants and everything else it has to offer. It's only
a 10 minute walk to the main street of town and all its amenities,
including a well stocked grocery store. The main bus depot to Merida (just
over $2 return), the fresh meat and produce market, and the main city
square are also in the downtown core - no need for a car! We were so
impressed with Casa Sol Mar that we've already booked for 2012!

Paradise in Progreso

Jim and I visit Progreso at least twice a
year and love the whole experience. This time, however, the experience was
much more than we expected. Our stay at Casa Sol Mar was a wonderful
getaway. From the moment the property manager, Jaromey met us to show us
around and provide us with the keys we were amazed at how beautiful Casa Sol
Mar really is. For those who look on the website as we did initially, all I
can say is that it has so much more to offer than can be shown. The
facilities are beautifully maintained from the pool, the outside community
kitchen and the units which are like a home away from home. As serene as it
is, it is right in the heart of the Malecon with wonderful restaurants and
bars where visitors can meet at Buddy's where all the ex-pats gather for
excellent food, drinks and very nice and attentive servers. I would
definitely recommend Casa Sol Mar for anyone wanting a taste of luxury in
Progreso. I've already contacted Jaromey regarding our next visit in the
Spring.

Casa Sol Mar - Clean Bright and Fun
Stayed here with family and it was great. As for the building it is
topnotch clean, well appointed and functional. We stayed in the bottom
unit on the street side. This unit was large and had plenty of space for
us and more room for the beach stuff outside our room. Having a (secure)
parking spot is great if you rent a car. The building itself is secure
and the other guests were great plus there was room for everyone in the
courtyard and outdoor kitchen. The kids spent a lot of time in the pool
and playing ball in the covered parking area...also good for hammocks!
The furnishings were solid, clean and tasteful. From just looking around
the town (we were there 10 days) it was one of the nicer places for sure
and always a nice place to come home to.
We usually went for a roof top cocktail and from there you could see
around quite well and over to the beach strip and ocean. There was a car
rental agency close by with a Mexican/Canadian couple so there was some
easy to come by local tips.
Getting into Merida was easy even if you walk and use the public
transit. The city is a bit cosmopolitan without the size of the larger
cities so with young kids it was easy and fun.
If we were to go back to this area we would no doubt come back to Casa
Sol Mar.

Christmas in Progreso
I stayed at Casa Sol Mar for a couple of weeks over Christmas last
year. I found the accommodation to be very well presented, clean and in
an excellent location. Moments from the beach, local bars, restaurants
and shops. The apartment itself was very comfortable and airy, equipped
fully to self cater if you fancy a night in. However this never happened
on my trip, as the shared area with swimming pool and bar was a great
place to chill out with friends, and meet some other guests that were
holidaying in another apartment in the complex. Being Scottish, i didn't
think i could have such a good time at Christmas without snow!

Casa Sol Mar is exactly as described. One
short block from the beach and easy walking distance to any shopping and all
the best restaurants in Progreso. Casa Sol Mar is a great place to kick back
after a hard day at the beach, shopping r exploring nearby the nearby Aztec
ruins.
Each suite has its own full kitchen including a full sized fridge but the
kitchen by the pool is what made the stay here really fun. It's a handy
meeting place for guests to mingle if they want. The suites are huge and
well equipped for any length of stay. I stayed in suite #5 which had the
whole top floor to itself. The bathroom was gigantic. Wifi on the property
enabled laptop surfing in the suite or down by the pool.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I loved this place! Clean, modern, safe,
economical...and wifi...and yes, hot water, the pix don't do it justice!!
Perfect location 50 steps from the fabulous beach, lovely pool area for
quieter times. The property manager (an awesome Canadian woman) was
incredibly helpful. The town itself had everything one could want (as long
as you aren't looking for big American style hotels). Nearby are flamingo
and white pelican nesting grounds, several Mayan ruin sites and a 1/2 hour
drive away is Merida, a bustling, culturally rich city. I'd go back in a
minute...and would love to stay the winter!! I highly recommend it!
