BY AIR
1. From the UK and EUROPE:
 | Scheduled flights:
British Airways

to Mexico. 3 times weekly (Wed,Thurs,Sun) from London Heathrow to Mexico
City.
Iberia (tel in
UK: 0845 601 2854) flies via Madrid or Barcelona to Mexico City and Cancun
KLM ( tel in
UK: 0870 850 9850) flies to Mexico
City from Amsterdam
Continental and American Airlines fly to Mexico City, Merida,
Cancun, Puerto Vallarta etc via the USA.
 | Discount fares and charter flights:
Check discounted travel agents for cheap tickets - returns are sometimes
under £350. www.cheapflights.co.uk
gives an extensive list of the latest deals on offer.
Also check for direct charter flights to Cancun: First
Choice flies once a week (usually on a Tuesday) from Gatwick and
Manchester (also Huatulco airport in Oaxaca). and also Thomson
are good for charters from London to Cancun-they often have return flights
from London for around £275 per person. www.thomsonfly.com
If you can find a good deal on flights to the US, you can travel overland or
buy an onward flight from there. Miami has reasonably priced onward flights
to a number of Mexican destinations, which are normally cheaper than flights
to other Latin American countries.
Another good way to travel around Mexico from the UK is with an open-jaw
ticket (the most popular route is from Mexico City to Cancun).
2. From the US:
There are flights to Mexico from virtually every American city. For the
speediest connections, fly from Miami (on BA, American Airlines, or Virgin),
from Houston (Continental) or Atlanta (Delta).Sample fares from Dallas and
Houston include US$280 round trip to Mexico City, US$490 to Cancun or
Acapulco and US$515 to Merida.
If you live close to the border, it’s easier to cross into Mexico
and take an internal flight (Aeromexico and Mexicana have cheap flights to
numerous destinations within Mexico). |

AIR and
BUS VIA CANCUN to MERIDA
Flights are
available from Canadian gateways to CANCUN and using ALASKA AIRLINES
non-stop from SEATTLE
Arriving to Cancun and want to get to Merida?
If you are renting a car you do not have to worry since all the car rentals are
at Cancun International Airport (CUN). Checking our Yucatan map to get a general
idea of your driving to Merida that should take about 4hrs.
We do recommend taking the highway one way to save time if you wish and the
freeway back to be able to go through all the villages and take a glimpse of
what Mayans are really like these days.
If you are taking the bus to Merida it all starts when you leave the
airport in Cancun and walk all the way to the right end where you take a bus for
$30 pesos ($3 usd) into the downtown bus station. This bus runs every 30 minutes
and takes about 30 minutes. Once you are at the bus station in downtown Cancun
we do recommend if your budget allows it, to take UNO, that is the luxury bus
for $370 pesos ($35usd), very comfortable although they have a strong tendency
to put the AC on too cold. The next in budget would be ADOGL (runs every hour to
and from Merida) for $260 pesos ($25usd). After those, there are plenty of buses
coming and going all the time so if its not high season you do not need
reservations... if it is high season try buying your tickets online:
Schedule for UNO Merida-Cancun: 7:15 am, 7:45 am, 2:15 pm, 4:15 pm, 9:15 pm
Schedule for UNO Cancun-Merida: 7:15 am, 2:15 pm, 5:15 pm, 9:15 pm
